Transportation access details

Access to Kannabi Ikomayama Hotel

  • There are many transportation options available to domestic and international tourists to access Ikoma.
    If traffic conditions are good, it takes about an hour by car from Kobe Airport, Osaka Airport, and Kansai Airport to Ikoma.

    For international travelers arriving by air, Kansai International Airport in Osaka Prefecture is the main international airport in the Kansai area.
    To get from Kansai International Airport to Ikoma, you can take the airport limousine bus, airport taxi, rental car from the airport terminal, or the highly efficient airport train.

    If you take the train, your first stop will be Namba Station.The Nankai Main Line connects Kansai Airport with Namba Station in the center of Osaka.
    From the airport terminal to Namba Station, you can take either the Nankai Limited Express Rapi:t (39 minutes) or the Nankai Airport Line Airport Express (45 minutes).
    After arriving at Nankai Namba Station, walk for about 8 minutes from the Namba to Kintetsu Osaka Namba Station, then take the Kintetsu Nara Line towards Ikoma.
    The journey from Osaka Namba Station to Ikoma takes about 21 minutes by rapid Express and about 25 minutes by Express.

    If you are coming by train, please get off at Ikoma Station.
    Taxis are the most convenient form of public transportation for those traveling with small children or those with a lot of luggage.
    If you want to travel light and enjoy peaceful mountain scenery, please use Ikoma Cable, Japan's first cable line.
    For those with a spirit of adventure, you can walk along the approach to the temple that has been used by devout followers of Hozan-ji Temple from the Edo period to the present day.
    It is also a popular route for those who like hiking around Mt. Ikoma.

    Ikoma is connected to the four major cities of the Kinki region - Osaka and Kobe in the west, Kyoto in the north, and Nara in the east - by the Kintetsu railway network.

    Limousine buses are convenient from Kansai Airport to Ikoma.
    Tickets are sold on the 1st floor of the airport bus terminal.
    Ikoma is the first stop for the bus bound for Nara Terminal.
    The journey usually takes about 1 hour, but it may take longer depending on traffic conditions.

    The most convenient way to get from Ikoma Station to Kannabi Ikomayama Hotel is by taxi.
    The taxi stand is located on the ground floor of Ikoma Station.
    The fee is approximately 1,000 yen.

    When you arrive at Monzenmachi Tourist Street, you will see a sign welcoming you to "Ikoma Tourism."
    The taxi will stop in a safe location, from where you can walk to the hotel.

  • 【Access via Kintetsu Ikoma Cable】

    If you want to enjoy the tranquil mountain scenery, take a ride on Japan's first cable car, the Ikoma Cable.
    The Ikoma Cable Line, which opened in 1918, has long been used by tourists and local residents alike.
    There are quite difficult stairs from the station to the hotel.
    If you are traveling with small children, have difficulty climbing stairs, or have a lot of luggage, please use a taxi instead of the cable car.

  • 【Access from the approach to Hozan-ji Temple】

    The shortest walking route to the hotel is along an ancient pilgrimage route. "Hozan-ji Temple Approach”
    The approach to Hozan-ji Temple has more than 1,000 steps.
    It is one of the longest approach paths to any temple or shrine in Japan, and boasts some of the longest staircases in the country.
    The first half of the journey begins at Ikoma Station, passing through a shopping street about 900m away and ending at Nakano-cho.

    The remaining 800m is difficult.
    The stairs lead to the entrance of Hozan-ji Temple and continue to the back approach to Hozan-ji Temple temple on the other side.
